Hottpants is still recovering from a long day protesting Sunday, but we're still full of that protest spirit. So much that we want to make like Homer Simpson and rant while only wearing our skivvies. Thanks to Nerve, we can do that, and get paid for it!

THE RULES:

Saving the World Through Panties

BluPrint Clothing

Hottpants likes to support local designers, so we were happy to meet Julie Machado at a recent street fair. Under the BluPrint Clothing label, she designs one-of-a-kind panties (and other clothes) which are printed with graffiti imagery. (Is Jake registered?) She's having a fashion show on September 17th at M1-5 (52 Walker street) -- that is, a combination fashion show/art show/hip-hop performance
that will start around 9pm and go till realll late. The fashion show
will probably start around 11:30 or 12am. If I get more details closer to the time and post them.

Panties: A Brief History

Rachel Lusty Lady tipped us off to a new book, Panties: A Brief History, which is coming out this fall. Maybe Hottpants can get a review copy.... the book is described as a " revealing and entertaining journey into the undiscovered world of underwear", which is good, 'cause that's just how we like our panties. Revealing and entertaining.

Party in My Panties Roundup

The Party in my Panties was a HUGE success, thanks to Nichelle, Laura, and the Tainted Lady! Pictures are here and here and here! I also met Jose, who has comments here. (If I was drunk and forgot you please don't be offended...) It was also great to see Liza, who bought lingerie and modeled it for us at the party...

Walk with the Axis of Eve at the historical United for Peace and Justice March! We'll be wearing our tank tops and protest panties (some over bare legs, some over tights, some pinned over clothing), and carrying giant panty signs made of colorful cardboard and our infamous "dirty laundary line" banners. We are sure to make a pantastic spectacle! DETAILS: The march starts at 10 AM at 14th street and 7th Avenue; Eves will convene between 9:30 AM and 9:55 AM at the corner of 15th street and 7th Avenue.

Hottpants loves Azaleas, a lingerie store in the east village with a great selection, and, from the looks of their monthly newsletter, a great sense of humor. An excerpt re a dress (they also sell clothes!):
'I wore this out on a date and my boyfriend says he saw some "chick" wearing a sexy dress and he was like 'NICE!' He flipped out when he saw that it was me underneath the umbrella. I don't know how much is true but the real question is: what was he doing checking out this "chick?'"

Hottpants thanks its dedicated fans for all the hot(pants) tips. As previously mentioned I have been tracking the same panty graffiti as CityRag. Hopefully I will be able to get a shot of another incidence of this graf, which I saw somewhere between my house and Avenue B.

I just got the best panties I have ever owned, from Daffy's. They are Leigh Bantivoglio boyshorts, light turquoise mesh with embroidered flowers. $17.99 but! that's much less than you would pay at one of her frequent sample sales. How good are they? they are beautiful, comfortable, well,-made, and sexy. They are so soft that the boyfriend absentmindedly petted them while I wasn't even wearing them! Daffy's also has matching camisoles and lace boyshorts as in the picture. And hey, Daffy's has a new store near the new Brooklyn Target. It's good I don't live nearby there anymore!

Intima America & Lingerie Americas Tradeshows

It's even on craigslist; how did I not know that both the Intima America (at Javits) & Lingerie Americas (at Met Pavilion) tradeshows started yesterday? I am a LOSER. I might try to stop by tomorrow AM or, more likely, at lunch,but really, I am so missing out. Nest year. I vow to keep track of my WWD schedule. Not only is there lots of free stuff but there is "informal modeling! (above, from last year at Lingerie Americas).
